Since joining the VDP in 2015, Rings winery has established itself as one of the Palatinate’s most exciting and dynamic producers. From the very beginning, the BASF wine cellar has followed the inspiring journey of brothers Steffen and Andreas Rings with great enthusiasm. Our long-standing partnership has culminated in the BASF Exclusive Rings line of red wines—an expression of shared passion and trust.
Just as the winery’s focus has evolved from Bordeaux-style blends to world-class Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, this Pinot Noir reflects the next chapter in our collaboration. The majority of the grapes come from the renowned Großkalbach site “Wolf,” complemented by 30% from the Hasenzeile vineyard in Leistadt and 20% from young vines in the prized Kallstadter Steinacker. Carefully matured in large wooden casks, the result is a Pinot Noir crafted in the Burgundian style: elegant yet structured, with supple tannins, vibrant freshness, and expressive notes of sour cherry layered over a rich, earthy forest floor character.
Remarkably, this cuvée represents only the “entry level” of Rings’ portfolio—a testament to the exceptional quality and vision that define the estate.
