Domaine Sesquières is nestled in the foothills of the Montagne Noire in the Cabardès appellation of southern France. While winemaking in this region dates back to Roman times, Cabardès is one of France’s youngest appellations, celebrated for its unique climate—where the warmth of the Mediterranean meets the cool influence of the Atlantic. Remarkably, it is the only AOC in France that requires winemakers to blend grape varieties from both climates, combining Mediterranean favorites like Syrah and Grenache with Atlantic varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vineyards of Domaine Sesquières are south facing on a limestone plateau, benefiting from an exceptional terroir where vines grow among garrigue scrubland and evergreen oaks. Their Quercus—Latin for “oak”—is a refined blend of Merlot and Syrah. On the nose, the spicy and floral notes of Syrah perfectly complement the velvety red fruit aromas of Merlot, creating a harmonious and elegant wine. Quercus is an ideal companion to roasted meats, offering a taste of southern France’s unique and expressive terroir in every glass.
