Eguren Ugarte follows a philosophy of blending tradition with innovation to craft the finest wines possible. The winery primarily produces wines under the prestigious Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja, accredited in 1926 and elevated to the highest “Calificada” status in 1991.
In recent years, the Eguren family embarked on a new venture in the Castilla y León region, situated on a high plateau near Valladolid in northwestern Spain. The region’s climate is marked by continental extremes—icy winters, scorching summers, and scarce rainfall, which naturally limits vine yields. Large day-night temperature swings during the growing season enhance grape quality: abundant sunshine encourages expressive aromas, while cool nights preserve freshness and acidity.
In Castilla y León, Eguren Ugarte focuses on producing lighter, approachable wines with minimal barrel influence. Their Reinares is a perfect example: a fruit-forward Spanish red with integrated tannins and a smooth, satisfying finish.
