Nestled in the rolling hills west of Carcassonne, Domaine Girard is a family-owned estate that has been crafting wines in the Malepère appellation for four generations. Benefiting from the rare meeting of Atlantic and Mediterranean influences, the estate produces wines that combine freshness, elegance, and southern French generosity while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture.
The 2020 Malepère Cuvée Néri is the estate’s flagship red, crafted from 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Malbec. Aged in large oak barrels, it reveals complex aromas of ripe blackcurrant, plum, and black cherry, complemented by hints of spice, licorice, and earthy notes. On the palate, it is rich and fleshy, with beautifully woven tannins, vibrant freshness, and remarkable depth.
This expressive southern French red perfectly captures the unique character of Malepère, where Bordeaux varieties meet Mediterranean terroir. Elegant yet powerful, it is an excellent companion to grilled meats, lamb, game dishes, and mature cheeses. A wine of authenticity and character, selected for those who appreciate both structure and finesse.
