“The Wild 13!” — that’s how siblings Franziska and Johannes Gröhl like to introduce themselves. As the 13th generation of their family to take the helm of this 20-hectare estate in Weinolsheim, they are bringing fresh energy and heartfelt dedication to the winery’s future.

Over the past 30 years, their parents have thoughtfully expanded the estate and secured some of the Rheinhessen’s most legendary vineyard sites. Their philosophy is simple and deeply rooted: preserve, don’t replace. This commitment to heritage shines in their oldest vines, now over 80 years of age. While they yield less fruit, the grapes they produce are of exceptional, unmatched quality.

With such passion, tradition, and terroir behind them, it’s no surprise that the winery was honored by the Vinum Weinguide as the “Rising Star of the Year 2022.”
