The winery Gies-Duppel was established in 1976 in the idyllic village of Berkweiler, located in Pfalz at the southern end of the German Wine Rout.

Since 1999, Volker Gies and his wife Tanjaa have been running the winery as a team and believe that their wines receive their charm from the high quality of their soil which is a unique mix of red sandstone, limestone and what the Germans like to call ‘Rotliegendes,’ or ‘red sediment.’ The couple practice an intense selection of their grapes to make sure only the highest quality makes it into their wines.

This Grauerburgunder is a perfect representation of Gies Duppel’s fine vineyard soil and the restrictive selection process – clean aromas of ripe apples, almonds and a lingering, well balanced finish.
